The purpose of the study reported on was to investigate the current classroom practices of teachers. Using multistage sampling, 245 teachers were selected from primary and secondary schools in the Amhara Region and Addis Ababa City, Ethiopia. A survey design was used for the study. The major results obtained showed that problems were observed in implementing active teaching methods; applying a variety of assessment techniques; questioning skills; providing feedback; managing classroom behaviour; and establishing a positive classroom climate. The study results revealed that primary school teachers performed better than secondary school teachers and also female teachers performed better than male teachers in most teaching-learning activities; but there was no difference in terms of regions for most teaching-learning activities. Some of the recommendations are: training on active learning methods and assessment; providing feedback; student management; action research; and so on. 相似文献

Awareness has been extensively studied in human computer interaction (HCI) and computer supported cooperative work (CSCW). The success of many collaborative systems hinges on effectively supporting awareness of different collaborators, their actions, and the process of creating shared work products. As digital libraries are increasingly becoming more than just repositories for information search and retrieval – essentially fostering collaboration among its community of users – awareness remains an unexplored research area in this domain. We are investigating awareness mechanisms in CiteSeer, a scholarly digital library for the computer and information science domain. CiteSeer users can be notified of new publication events (e.g., publication of a paper that cites one of their papers) using feeds as notification systems. We present three cumulative user studies – requirements elicitation, prototype evaluation, and naturalistic study – in the context of supporting CiteSeer feeds. Our results indicate that users prefer feeds that place target items in query-relevant contexts, and that preferred context varies with type of publication event. We found that users integrated feeds as part of their broader, everyday activities and used them as planning tools to collaborate with others. 相似文献

Up-conversion processes for the blue, green and red emissions were found two-photon phenomenon, known as the cooperative phenomenon.
This phenomenon was assisted by Nd3+ → Yb3+ → Ho3+ energy transfer. The strong green emission due to the Ho3+ : (5F4, 5S2)→ 5I8 transitions was observed in Nd3+-Ho3+ co-doped ZrF4-based fluoride glasses under 800 nm excitation. As an attempt to enhance Ho3+ up-conversion luminescences in the Nd3+ – Ho3+ co-doped ZrF4-based glasses, Yb3+ ions were added to the glasses. As a result it was found that, in 800 nm excitation of 60 ZrF4. 30BaF2. (8-x)LaF3. lNdF3. xYbF3. 1HoF3 glasses (x=0 to 7), sensitized up-conversion luminescences are observed at around 490 nm (blue), 545 nm (green), and 650 nm (red), which
correspond to the Ho3+ : 5F3 → 5I8, ( 5F4, 5S2)→5I8 and 5F5→ 5I8 transitions respectively. The intensities of the green and red emissions in a 3 mol % YbF3-containing glass were about 50 times stronger than those glasses without YbF3. This is based on sensitization due to Yb3+ ions. In particular, the green emission was extremely strong and the Nd3+-Yb3+-Ho3+ co-doped ZrF4-based glasses have a high possibility of realizing a green up-conversion laser glass. Exploring Saudi Computer Science Teachers’ Conceptual Mastery Level of Computational Thinking Skills
The Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia implemented a new computer science curriculum in 2008. There was speculation that many computer science teachers did not possess sufficient knowledge of computational thinking needed to teach this subject. To investigate this topic, a quantitative research study was conducted with 55 male computer science teachers in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Results of the study revealed that most of the computer science teachers had a low conceptual level of computational thinking, and some of the teachers had misconceptions about the exact nature of computational thinking. Findings indicated that computer science teachers did indeed need more training in what computational thinking means and how to teach this subject. 相似文献

Individuals seek information for informed decision-making, and they consult a variety of information sources nowadays. However, studies show that information from multiple sources can lead to information overload, which then creates negative psychological and behavioral responses. Drawing on the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework, we propose a model to understand the effect of information seeking, information sources, and information overload (Stimuli) on information anxiety (psychological organism), and consequent behavioral response, information avoidance during the global health crisis (COVID-19). The proposed model was tested using partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) for which data were collected from 321 Finnish adults using an online survey. People found to seek information from traditional sources such as mass media, print media, and online sources such as official websites and websites of newspapers and forums. Social media and personal networks were not the preferred sources. On the other hand, among different information sources, social media exposure has a significant relationship with information overload as well as information anxiety. Besides, information overload also predicted information anxiety, which further resulted in information avoidance. 相似文献
